Working with disabled children
Luca, who has worked with children with disabilities since his teens, established his own charity in 2007 which offers disabled kids the chance to socialise and develop their talents.
And he knew that despite being a single parent – he had the skills and experience to give Alba a warm and caring home.
Eat at least one meal as a family each day. Sitting down at the table together is a relaxed way for everyone to connect - a time to share happy news, talk about the day, or tell a silly joke. It also helps your kids develop healthy eating habits.
He was granted custody of the vulnerable girl in July 2017 when she was only 13 days old.

Overcome with joy
Luca told the BBC: “Since I was 14 years old, I have volunteered and worked with the disabled so I felt I had the right knowledge and experience to do it.”
Speaking of the moment he first met his newborn daughter, he said: “When I first held her in my arms, I was overcome with joy.
“I felt she was my daughter straight away.
"It was the first time I held a newborn baby. Before that moment, I have always been scared.
“But, when I first held Alba, I knew I was ready to be her dad.”

A sense of fulfillment
He says the child has "revolutionised his life and everything revolves around her."
"She brought me happiness and a sense of fulfilment. I am proud to be her dad," he added.
And despite Alba being rejected by 20 other families and her own mother, Luca insists he never hesitated in adopting her.
He said: " I wanted her to be my daughter."
